Angela Nephew

Making art got into my blood as a teenager. I was painting, making sculpture, but it didn’t resonate. Glass spoke to me when I saw a program about making kiln formed (or fused) glass.

I sought out classes at The Davis Studio, The Glass Underground, Corning Museum of Glass and Pilchuck Glass School. I was very fortunate to study with a master kiln formed artist for six years.

My personal vision has narrowed over the years from being focused on color, because glass is so intrinsically beautiful, to becoming more of an explorer. I am now challenging myself to bring new concepts first and using my past experiences to focus my work. Many experiences have been in the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain. Being in and on the water, walking many trails and skiing the mountains has soaked in and I know they find their way into my artwork both consciously and subliminally.

I am a member of the Glass Art Society and Saranac Lake Artworks. My work is in private collections along the east coast and can be seen at the Northwind Fine Arts Gallery in Saranac Lake, N.Y., Downtown Artist Cellar in Malone, N.Y. and Adirondack Art Association in Essex, N.Y.
